Part of the underground deep house music scene for over fifteen years, Ugandan born Jenifa Mayanja is a DJ, live performer and producer. A respected DJ in New York, she has played notable venues & parties such as Deep Space with Francois K, Ps.1 Warm Up summer parties, Club Love, SOB’s and many more. With determination and an undying passion for the music, she became one of the most sought after DJs in New York, crowning her achievements by being invited to play at Body and SOUL repeatedly. She solidified her reputation as a music buyer at the legendary record store Dancetracks gaining knowledge and experience in the music industry in the late nineties and in the early days of Spiritual Life music with Joe Claussell.

She created and nurtured her own successful and groundbreaking parties that also garnered notable press in “TimeOut NY” and “New York Magazine” featuring her eclectic style of DJing unafraid to mix up genres. One of those parties, Bu-mako, was the start of other creative avenues for Jenifa: the Bu-mako recording label and Bu-mako Experience radio show on www.motionfm.com.

Besides work on her own imprint, Jenifa has collaborated in the past with Anthony Nicholson (Trackmode Records, Clairaudience) as the Descendants; Alison Crockett aka Diva Blue (Sylk 130, Naked Music, wah wah 45’s); as the Djima project released on Lifeline Records; Hipbone records with Vicki Bell and Alexis P. Suter (Open Door) as Bakazi. Her most current collaborations include Isoul8, Black Jazz Consortium, DJ Jus-Ed and AMR Collective member Marco Nega.
