AMR Spring 2012 Update
Welcome to our new website! The old site – as great as the design was – sort of fell flat when it came to maintenance. A lot of it was manual and quite cumbersome. This new site is based on WordPress, is much easier to maintain, and presents our new colors going forward. Give it a spin and tell us what you think! Especially if you find any glaring errors or omissions. :] A HUGE thanks to the Gawddess of AMR, Debra Jones-Davis for her painstaking efforts in putting this new site together.
We’ve been busy on the release front. We just dropped the first of many releases in the pipeline, “FLYING FEELING” by Chicago native and deep house acolyte Matthew Wieck. True to form, we dug deep on the south side of Chi-town for this up-and-comer. He’s been making digital releases for a while, but this is his first joint on vinyl. This cat is a soldier. Works hard, plays deep and is 100% about the music. “Flying Feeling” is available now at Juno Records and will be available at your local record store soon.
You might be wondering about the status of our scheduled DeepSummit 2012 tour this summer. To answer that question, we looked back at what we did in 2011 and realized that we weren’t happy with the amount of music we released. While the mini-tour we had in Europe last summer was absolutely smashing, it took away from time we had expected to focus on releases. We don’t want to make the same mistake in 2012, and on that note, we regret to inform you that there will be no DeepSummit tour this year. We are planning on doing a few gigs (since we’ve already scheduled some) but our goal for 2012 is to have a lot more deep joints under our belt.
With that out of the way, we’ve got good news for the MP3Js – we’ve signed up with a new digital distributor who will give us a lot more coverage on the digital front and make a number of our releases available to you! And the vinyl side of things keeps getting better and better – all of our releases this year will be out on vinyl (and some of them will only be on vinyl).
Up next: We’ve got a bunch of new material lined up, including a mini-collab with Deep Explorer Music’s Dubbyman and Above Smoke. We’ll also soon be dropping music from Malcolm Moore, Rezkar, Austere Recordings’ LAAK and a few other very well-known soldiers of the deep. We also have a skunkworks project that’s nearly complete, but we’ll keep the wraps on that for a little while longer. Haha. 🙂
